Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the Foundation, donations, Zakat and partnerships.

Is Wasfa Gul Foundation a registered non-profit organisation?
Yes. The Foundation operates as a registered not-for-profit organisation committed to transparency and public benefit.
How are donations used?
Donations are allocated toward healthcare, education, infrastructure development and community welfare projects in accordance with the Foundation's objectives. Indicative split for the first three years: 70% hospital build, 15% patient care, 10% education, 5% operations (operations funded only from Sadaqah and unrestricted gifts).
Is my Zakat fully utilised for eligible recipients?
Yes. 100% of Zakat is used for recipients eligible under the eight Quranic categories — primarily patients who cannot pay for treatment and students in financial need. No portion of your Zakat is used for administration, marketing or overheads.
How is Zakat different from Sadaqah at the Foundation?
Zakat is obligatory, fixed at 2.5% of eligible wealth, and restricted to the eight Quranic categories. Sadaqah is voluntary, any amount, any time, and can support both programmes and operations. See the Sadaqah and Zakat pages for full detail.
Can I sponsor a patient or student?
Yes. The Foundation offers sponsorship opportunities for medical treatment and educational scholarships. You can select a preference at the donation page or write to us for a tailored arrangement.
Can corporations partner with the Foundation?
Absolutely. We welcome CSR partnerships, equipment sponsorships, naming rights and collaborative projects. Please contact us to discuss.
How can I donate from abroad?
International donation routing through UK and US partners is being established (same model as Shaukat Khanum's IKCA-USA / IKCA-UK). Until those entities are operational, international donors can wire funds directly to the Foundation's accounts — please contact us for bank details and reference instructions.
Which payment methods will be accepted?
For local PKR donations: JazzCash, Easypaisa, credit/debit cards (via Safepay), and bank transfer. For international donations: a sister entity in UK/US is planned to accept Stripe and PayPal. See the technical note on Transparency for the latest status.
How do I volunteer?
Visit the Volunteer page and submit the application form. Our team will match your skills and availability to current opportunities. We need doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, IT professionals, social workers and corporate volunteer teams.
Where can I see your audited financials?
Audited financials will be published on the Transparency page after the Foundation's first reporting cycle and external audit. The Foundation is in its founding year and is working through registration, certification and first-year auditing.
Is the Foundation tax-credit eligible in Pakistan?
The Foundation has begun the application process for Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) certification, which enables tax credit under Section 2(36)(c) of the Income Tax Ordinance. Status updates will be published on the Transparency page.
How do I report a concern or whistleblow?
Please contact us in writing. The Foundation operates a written whistleblower policy that protects the identity of those raising legitimate concerns about governance, finance or safeguarding.
